Why Does Concrete Paint Peel?
Unlike a professional concrete coating, paint simply sits on top of the slab.

Mechanical grinding prepares the concrete before a 100%-solids moisture-mitigating epoxy primer is applied. Decorative flake is then fully broadcast into the wet primer. On the second day, two 100%-solids polyaspartic clear topcoats seal the system, creating a durable, seamless finish.

Q: Can garage floor epoxy be installed over cracked concrete?
A: Yes. Most cracks can be professionally repaired prior to installation using specialized materials and techniques. In cases involving larger or moving cracks, crack stitching systems may also be recommended to help reinforce the concrete.
Q: Is grinding required before applying garage floor epoxy even though my concrete is in perfect condition?
A: Yes. Concrete naturally forms a dense, smooth surface known as the “cream layer” during finishing, which can prevent coatings from properly bonding.
Diamond grinding removes the cream layer along with invisible contaminants, sealers, curing compounds, and surface laitance. More importantly, it opens the pores of the concrete, allowing the substrate to act like a sponge so the epoxy primer can penetrate deep within the concrete for a much stronger bond.
Without proper surface preparation, coatings are significantly more likely to peel, delaminate, or fail prematurely.
